Our top 5 winter pub walks in and around King’s Cross

King's Cross

Usher in the colder weather by wrapping up warm and stretching your legs to discover some of London’s best trails and circular walks this winter. Then stop to thaw out and refuel with a glass of wine by a roaring fire (or outdoor heater). We give you our pick of the best.

1.      Head east to Hackney Wick

Enjoy a scenic walk along London’s canal network all the way to Hackney Wick, where you can enjoy a drink a stone’s throw from the Olympic park. Leaving your King’s Cross apartment, head east across Camley Street Natural Park to the Regent’s Canal towpath and follow it to Angel, for a pit stop at one of its many coffee shops. Try Redemption Roasters on the edge of Camden Passage for the perfect pick-me-up. From there follow the canal to Victoria Park, skirting its edge along Pound Path. Turn left along Hertford Union Canal until you reach Hackney Wick.

Finish at: Crate Brewery for pizza and craft ale, or iconic graffiti pub the Lord Napier Star

Length: 5.7 miles, about 2 hours

2.      Primrose Hill: views to die for

This circular gem takes in some of the best views of the city from the top of Primrose Hill, as well as Regent’s Park’s picturesque gardens. Head north along Regent’s Canal until you reach Camden Lock — the ideal place for a spot of bargain hunting — before turning right onto Chalk Farm Road and past the statue of famous local Amy Winehouse. A left at music venue The Roundhouse takes you down to Primrose Hill, where The Queen’s gastropub offers charm aplenty, as well as some of the best sights of the hill itself. Once refuelled, meander down to Regent’s Park, where you might be lucky enough to steal a peak at one of London’s Zoo’s resident giraffes. Exit the park at Chester Road and make your way back to Enclave, exclusive apartments for rent in King’s Cross.

Stop at: The Queen’s or super dog-friendly Pembroke Castle

Length: 4.5 miles, 1 hr 40
